Norman Lowrey is a mask maker / composer / performance / sound / video artist, and Professor Emeritus of Music at Drew University, Madison, NJ. He is the originator of Singing Masks - ceramic, carved wood, leather, virtual. He has presented Singing Mask events in such diverse locations as Plan B and Site Santa Fe in New Mexico, Roulette and Lincoln Center in New York City, at the site of pictograph caves outside Billings, Montana, in Second Life with the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse, and in all of Ione’s Annual Dream Festivals for the past 27 years. He is certified in Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening practice, and was a Board member of the former Deep Listening Institute.
